CG News: Power consumers to pay higher VCA

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company on Wednesday said that the power consumers will have to pay a variable cost adjustment (VCA) charge of Rs 1.10 per unit for the next two months. The company has stated that it is due to the increase in the prices of fuel, mainly coal and oil. As per the notification of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission, the company registered a gross increase of Rs 549 crore in the cost of electricity during August and September 2022, an official communication said. Due to the increase, there is a hike of 49 paise in the VCA charge applicable during December - 2022 and January 2023. Earlier, the rate was 61 paise per unit, which has now increased to Rs 1.10 per unit. The VCA charges will be imposed on all categories of consumers in the electricity bills for the months of January and February-2023.
