CG NEWS: Arms licenses suspended

RAIPUR: District Election Officers cum District Magistrates of Chhattisgarh on Monday issued the order for suspension of all the arms licence with declaration of election model code of conduct.

The order states that as per the provisions mentioned in the Arms Act 1959, the temporary suspension of arms license has been declared till the election process is completed.

It is applicable to all the licensees residing in the district and also to the licensees coming from outside the district. All licensees will be able to get their weapons back after the end of the code of conduct.

The order states that all the arms licensees living within the limits of district border area should deposit their firearms in the nearest police station within 07 days, apart from this, the licensees should deposit their weapons in the arms dealer of Raipur city, who has the license to deposit the arms.

The person who deposits weapons with the arms dealer will also provide information about the same to the concerned police station. The concerned arms dealer will prepare police station wise information and submit it to the concerned police station and District Magistrate office.

The district level committee formed for testing arms licenses in the district after the meeting stated that after examining the applications received, security guards of persons holding constitutional posts, security guards engaged in bank security and ATM work, National Rifle Association and industrial institutions of the district will be reviewed.

Security guards deployed for the security of educational institutions and important government institutions will remain free. Exemption has been granted from collecting weapons for the security of banks, ATMs and institutions.
