RAIPUR, CG (INDIA): The Transport Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh has launched a major initiative to enhance the security and convenience of vehicle owners by making the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) mandatory for all vehicles. To ensure a smooth and transparent process, the department has initiated a special campaign aimed at preventing middlemen and fraud.
As per the directives of the Supreme Court and the notification issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the implementation of HSRP has been made compulsory under the provisions of the Central Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. Following these guidelines, Chhattisgarh has made it mandatory for all vehicle owners to install HSRP.
To facilitate the process, vehicle owners can apply directly through the Transport Department’s authorized website — cgtransport.gov.in . Vehicle owners are advised to register online and get the HSRP fitted to their vehicles without involving any third party.
In recent times, the department has received complaints regarding fraudulent activities where individuals, posing as service providers, have been cheating vehicle owners by offering fake HSRP services, including false promises of home delivery. Fraudsters have also attempted to deceive people through counterfeit platforms claiming to be linked to the HSRP portal.
To protect the public, the Transport Department has strongly appealed to all vehicle owners to use only the official website cgtransport.gov.in for applying and installing HSRP. Following the correct procedure will help prevent scams, ensure the authenticity of registration plates, and enhance vehicle security across the state.
The department emphasized that public cooperation is crucial to the success of this campaign and urged everyone to remain alert and cautious.
