RAIPUR: Chief Electoral Officer, Reena Babasaheb Kangale on Wednesday held a meeting of representatives of political parties to brief on the Election Commission of India guidelines.
Kangale gave detailed information about the Model Code of Conduct, election expenditure monitoring, the process of permission for vehicles and rallies during the election period.
Detailed information was provided regarding the process of filing nomination papers by the candidates during the assembly general elections. She briefed the last date for adding names to the electoral roll in both the phases of voting.
The political parties were provided details about the process of door-to-door voting through postal ballot for absentee category voters (voters above 80 years of age and with more than 40 percent disability).
Officials of the Chief Electoral Officer's office informed that this time as per the amendment made in the law by the Commission, it will be mandatory for the employees deployed on election duty to vote only at the convenience centre. In the meeting, information about the limit of expenditure by political parties and candidates during elections and the instructions of the Commission regarding the maintenance of their accounts were also given to the political parties.
