DANTEWADA,INDIA: A sarpanch candidate was brutally killed by Naxalites late at night in Aranpur, Dantewada district. The incident, which occurred at the victim’s residence, has created panic in the region, especially following the murder of another individual just a day earlier. Additional Superintendent of Police R.K. Burman confirmed the attack.
According to reports, Naxalites stormed the house of Joga Barsa around 1:30 AM on Thursday and executed the killing. Initial investigations suggest that the attack was linked to the ongoing panchayat elections.
Authorities believe the Naxalites are growing increasingly desperate due to the expanding presence of security forces in Bastar’s interior regions. In retaliation, they have been targeting local tribal residents, accusing them of supporting government initiatives and security operations. Security forces have been placed on high alert in response to the situation.
