Chhattisgarh scheme opens avenue for self-employment

The Chhattisgarh Government's Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana has transformed the lives of many unemployed youth by making them self-employed.

 

The scheme provides overall assistance like financial assistance, guarantees, and training to the state’s youth for setting up industry services and businesses as self-employment.

 

Kailash Telam, hails from Tumnar village in Bijapur district. Kailash stated that he was financially weak and was not capable of pursuing his studies after the 10th standard.


He used to help his father with agricultural work; even then, his economic condition was bad. Even after additional work the situation was the same.

 

He said that his friend Santosh Telam informed of running a grocery shop with the help of the state government’s Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana. This scheme has provided him with financial aid, and his economic condition has improved.


He added that he then applied to the Industries Department. The department approved a loan of Rs 2 lakh for the business of a stationery shop. After sanction of loan a training for 7 days for the successful operation of the business under entrepreneurship training by the Industries department was given.


Kailash said being a Scheduled Tribe entrepreneur, the department provided a grant of Rs 50,000 at the rate of 25% of the sanctioned loan amount. He is successfully operating the shop and is earning an income of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 per month.

 

He said now is capable of paying the bank installments regularly.
