RAIPUR (CG): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday underlined the need for improving the condition of roads after monsoon.
He was holding a review of the Public Works Department at his official residence office, here.
He emphasised that negligence will not be tolerated while improving conditions of roads, as it is linked to convenience to citizens.
All concerned state agencies should work in coordination with each other to expedite the work related to the construction of roads, he said.
Reviewing ongoing projects in Raipur city, Baghel asked officials to expedite its implementation, including construction and land acquisition. He also discussed the progress on the Telibandha overbridge and the Expressway-to-VIP Road overbridge with Public Works Department officials.
The works include the construction of a flyover at Telibandha, a road linking Sharda Chowk to Tatyapara Chowk, the VIP road from Atal Expressway, and the Kharoon River Front development. Particularly emphasising the 510-metre-long road from Sharda Chowk to Tatyapara Chowk, estimated at approximately Rs 137 crore, an official communication said.
PWD officials stated that it has completed 292.2 kilometres of road construction out of the approved 332.7 kilometres of roads in the Surguja region. The remaining 40.5 kilometres of the road will be constructed after the rainy season. In the Raigarh region, the department has completed the construction of 155.4 kilometres of roads.
Public Works Department Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Education Minister Ravindra Choubey and senior officials were present.
