CG NEWS: Team studies different states on cattle issue

RAIPUR: The different states have made different systems to manage the menace of the stray cattle on roads, states a report of a team having visited the states.

Chief Secretary, Chhattisgarh Government had sent a joint team of Police and Animal Husbandry Department to study the current situation and efforts to be made in other states to control road accidents caused by animals on the roads.

The prominent route was Raipur to Nagpur route, Lucknow to Prayagraj route and Bhopal to Jabalpur route.

The team of Dr. Avinash Shukla, Assistant Veterinary Surgeon and Neelkanth Verma, Inspector Traffic reported that the cattle-rearers in the state of Maharashtra are alert and sensitive for the safety of their animals. Due to which, road accidents caused by animals are negligible on the state highway.

If stray animals are found, an auction is done within 10 days after public information. In Uttar Pradesh, destitute cattle are admitted to government and registered gaushalas by taking joint action with local bodies.

In case of animals being found on the national highway, toll free number- 1033 and in case of main roads of other areas can be informed on 1100.
