Intensify battle against Naxalism: CM

Raipur, Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the previous government had not adequately addressed the issue of Naxalism. The security forces are earnestly engaged in eradicating Maoist presence.

He was addressing the high-level meeting late on Wednesday at Mahanadi Bhawan, attended by top police and administration officials, to conduct a comprehensive review of Naxal Eradication Campaign (Naxal Unmulan Abhiyan).

“Our priority is not only to expel them from Chhattisgarh but also to wipe out all bits and pieces of their existence,” he emphasised.

Interacting with the media after the meeting, he said “Our police personnel are resolutely battling against the Naxalites. Our anti-Naxal campaigns are escalating, with the continuous establishment of security camps.”

Sai directed officials to ensure the provision of basic amenities to residents around security camps. Following his visit to Jagdalpur to pay homage to the soldiers having lost their lives in an encounter with Naxalites on January 30 in Tekulagudem village of Jagargunda police station area in Sukma district, He convened a high-level meeting upon his return.

He reiterated the imperative of efforts to eradicate Naxalites from the state, affirming the Government's unwavering commitment to the cause. He also stressed the need for effective action and a concrete strategy for it.

The Chief Minister expressed firm resolve, stating, “The recent attacks on our security forces by Naxalites, fuelled by their distress over intensified campaign against them in the last 1.5 months, are utterly deplorable. We must respond to them resolutely.”

He further said, “The establishment of camps, even in remote and inaccessible areas, has left the Maoists uneasy, prompting cowardly retaliatory attacks. We must remain vigilant and foil their nefarious intentions.”

Sai underlined the need for enhancing the effectiveness of information systems and expedite action against Naxalites. He stressed the importance of maintaining vigilance during search operations in Naxal-affected areas.
