Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh: The Mahasamund Police during inspection seized Rs 3.80 crore of Rs 500 denominations on Thursday. It was being transported from Sarangarh through Saraipali to Raipur. The vehicle driver had been arrested and the vehicle seized. The fake cash was hidden among the saree.
Police Superintendent Mahasamund Rajesh Kukreja, and ASP Akash Rao Giripunje said that there had been regular checking on the borders of illegal drugs, paddy and others.
Saraipali police received information that a pickup van is arriving from Sarangarh to Raipur with fake currency. The police created a barrier and arrested Arun Sidar (18) and seized four plastic sacks stacked with Rs 500 denominations notes, having around 760 bundles. The total amount of Rs 3.80 crore.
Police said that one more accomplice had escaped. Police are interrogating the accused to trace the source of fake currency.
