Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India: Two-day national conference is jointly organized by ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management (ICAR-NIBSM), Raipur, Amity University Chhattisgarh (AUC), Raipur, and the ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management (ICAR-NIASM), Baramati, Maharashtra at the ICAR-NIBSM institute premises here on February 28-29.
Dr. P. K. Ghosh, Director and Vice-Chancellor of ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management (ICAR-NIBSM) and Prof (Dr) Piyush Kant Pandey Vice-Chancellor of Amity University, Raipur jointly addressing media said that two-day national conference is being organised on February 28-29 at ICAR-NIBSM institute premises. ICAR-NIASM, Baramati, Maharashtra is also a part of it.
Dr. P. K. Ghosh said that the conference is expected to draw around 300 distinguished scientists, industry partners, and students. The conference boasts an impressive line-up of speakers, including Dr. S. Ayyappan, Former Secretary DARE and DG ICAR and other eminent scientists like Dr. A.N. Mukhopadhyay, Dr. C.D. Mayee, Dr. S. N. Puri who will grace the inaugural Session.
The valedictory session will be graced by Dr. Panjab Singh, Former Secretary DARE and DG, ICAR.
Under the theme “Novel Strategies for Mitigating Biotic and Abiotic Stresses for Agricultural and Environmental Sustainability,” the conference will delve into six key themes. They are emerging biotic and abiotic stresses under changing climate, recent approaches in climate resilient agriculture and environmental sustainability, recent trends in abiotic stress management strategies, recent trends in biotic stress management strategies, novel approaches to understand and mitigate combined effects of abiotic and biotic stresses, capacity building and policy issues in stress management.
A special session on Academia-Industry Interaction will provide a platform for industry partners to showcase their products and perspectives. 16 stalls will be installed by industry partners, KVK and NGO’s to showcase their products and technologies. Science exhibitions with school children and students of NIBSM and Amity University will be placed along with stalls for showing innovativeness by the students. A Panel Discussion will focus on innovative strategies for addressing agricultural and environmental challenges, said Dr. P K. Ghosh.
Prof. Piyush Kant Pandey said multipronged strategies had to be formulated for finding solutions to the problems faced by the farming community. The problem has to be tackled with a multipolar, multidisciplinary and multi-dimensional approach. For climate change issues, intense research is required.
