Lok Sabha Election-2024: Ban on organizing, broadcasting exit polls

* ECI notification tenure from April 19 to June 1.

Raipur,Chhattisgarh,INDIA: The Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh has issued the notification based on the Election Commission of India order for prohibiting organizing and telecasting any kind of exit poll from April 19 to June 1.

The Commission has issued a notification in this regard and under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the organization and telecast of any type of exit poll has been prohibited during the period.

The notification states that in view of the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, no exit poll of any kind will be organized in the context of the Lok Sabha general elections in the period from 7 am on April 19 to 6:30 pm on June 1. There will be a ban on publishing or publicizing its result through print or electronic media or disseminating it in any other way.

It is clarified in the notification that the period of 48 hours ending at the time fixed for the end of voting in the respective Lok Sabha constituencies under the Lok Sabha Elections-2024 under Section 126 (1) (b) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. There will be a ban on display of any kind of election related matter including the results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey in any electronic media during this period.
