Certification of political advertisements published a day before voting, on voting day

RAIPUR,CG: The Election Commission of India has issued guidelines to all political parties and all the candidates contesting elections for Raipur Lok Sabha constituency, certification of advertisements of political parties and candidates published in the media on the polling day and a day before the polling, media certification.

It will have to be done compulsorily by the Monitoring Committee (MCMC).

Raipur Lok Sabha constituency will vote in the third phase on Tuesday, May 07. All such political advertisements published in print media on May 06 and 07 will be checked by the Certification and Media Monitoring Committee (MCMC) constituted at the state level or district. Pre-certification is mandatory. On both these days, advertisements are published in newspapers by political parties and candidates to seek political benefits and solicit votes.

As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, a State Level MCMC Committee has been constituted by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, in the State Level Committee, political advertisements published by political parties can be certified, along with this, in every district, the District MCMC Committee is constituted at the district level by the Returning Officer. Candidates contesting Lok Sabha elections can get their political advertisements certified by the district level committee. For this, candidates will have to submit applications in the prescribed form along with three copies of the draft of the advertisement 3 days before the proposed date of publication of the advertisement.

No such advertisement will be given in the media which disturbs the social harmony or increases tension, disturbs the peace, is contrary to the Constitution and law, contrary to morality and ethics. There will also be a ban on publishing advertisements that hurt anyone's religious beliefs. These advertisements include print media, TV channels, cable TV channels, radio (including private FM), cinema houses, e-newspapers, bulk and voice SMS and audio-visual medium in public places.
