CG NEWS: Provide basic facilities on time, will face punitive action: Sharma

BEMETARA,CG: Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara District Ranbir Sharma on Thursday said the hostel superintendents have to ensure family like environment to students in government hostels. If negligence is found will face punitive action.

He was holding a review meeting of hostel superintendents of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department in the Drishti meeting room located at the District Collectorate.

Additional Collector Dr. Anil Vajpayee, Assistant Tribal Commissioner Radhey Shyam Tandon and all the hostel superintendents of the district were present.

Sharma said that students from faraway places come to study in the hostel. All the facilities are extended to them by the government. It is the duty to treat all the children like children of their own and provide them with all the facilities. Studying in a hostel develops personality and a sense of cooperation among each other.

He asked all the superintendents to repair the toilets and roof of the hostel within the time limit of one week. He also instructed them to do gardening in the hostel, plant different types of plants and clean the premises.

He asked to check the arrangement of drinking water for the children in the hostel, the electricity supply to the fan and cooler so that no accident happens. All the children were asked to keep the book ‘Agni Ki Udaan’ in the hostel for reading.

The District Magistrate underlined the need for improving examination results of the hostel children. He asked all the hostels to wash children's clothes, bedsheets and mattresses and keep them in the sun so that they remain clean. Regular medical checkups of the children from time to time are conducted. To balance nutrition, he asked to give seasonal vegetables and fruits.

The Collector further asked to organize various activities from time to time to accustom the children. Provide all-round development of children by involving them in interesting activities like sports, cultural programs, rangoli, painting. He said that security should be provided by giving top priority to the safety of the girl child.

Sharma underlined that children should be informed about good touch and bed touch, so that children can protect themselves. The Collector asked the hostel superintendents to conduct regular monitoring and better management. He said punitive action will be taken in case of any irregularity or negligence.
