CG NEWS: CM vies for cash payment to tendu leaf collectors

RAIPUR,CG: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had on Monday asked the officials to pay the remuneration amount in cash to tendupatta collectors in Sukma, Bijapur and Narayanpur districts.

He said the bank branches are far away in these districts, therefore, keeping in mind the convenience of tendu leaf collectors, the decision has been taken.

Tendupatta collectors will be paid cash remuneration in the year 2024 by setting up camps in the haat-markets of Sukma, Bijapur and Narayanpur districts.

The Forest and Climate Change department had issued the detailed guidelines. Apart from Sukma, Bijapur and Narayanpur districts, the remuneration amount is paid to tendupatta collectors in their accounts.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest V. Srinivas Rao said the guidelines states all cash payment proceedings will be carried out under the supervision and control of the District Collector. Collector will decide the beneficiary eligible for cash payment. In each district, the District Collector, Forest Divisional Officer and Managing Director, in mutual coordination with the District Union, will organize a camp at the Haat Bazaar or other suitable place in the proposed area. Adequate publicity will be done before cash payment and a report will be presented by doing complete videography of all the work related to cash payment.

The District Collectors have been asked to ensure necessary action for issuing Aadhaar cards and opening bank accounts as per requirement. Collectors have been instructed to complete the process of payment of remuneration amount within 15 days.
