RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: In a significant move to boost tourism, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, approved granting industry status to tourism in the state. The decision aims to promote and ensure the planned development of tourism, aligning with the state's Industrial Policy 2024-30 and Tourism Policy 2020.
Under the Industrial Policy 2024-30, tourism, along with entertainment and other social service sectors, is now eligible for incentives similar to those provided to traditional industries. These include grants, exemptions, and concessions for projects meeting the minimum fixed capital investment criteria.
With industry status, private investment in adventure tourism, water tourism, medical and wellness tourism, agro-tourism, and tourism-related infrastructure is expected to surge. This also includes the development of land banks for tourism projects.
The move will lead to the development of tourism-related infrastructure and facilities tailored to national and international visitors, positioning Chhattisgarh as a prime tourist destination.
The decision is anticipated to generate significant employment in the tourism sector, benefiting both urban and rural communities.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging tourism as a key driver of economic growth and sustainable development in Chhattisgarh.
