DONGERGARH,INDIA: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized on the growing relevance of Lord Buddha’s teachings in today’s world, he highlighted the importance of peace, compassion, and non-violence in fostering true human progress.
He was addressing the the 32nd International Buddhist Conference, held at the Pragya Giri pilgrimage site in Dongargarh.
The Chief Minister spoke about Chhattisgarh’s deep-rooted Buddhist heritage, noting that the state has long been a place of spiritual inclusivity. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to preserving this legacy, pointing to significant Buddhist sites such as Sirpur, known for its ancient monasteries and inscriptions, and Mainpat, often referred to as the ‘Mini Tibet of India.’
As part of the state’s development strategy, tourism was highlighted as a key area of focus. Sai expressed the government’s vision of making Chhattisgarh a major hub for spiritual and heritage tourism. He also mentioned the inclusion of Buddhist sites under the central government’s PRASAD scheme, which aims to develop world-class infrastructure for pilgrimage destinations.
The conference saw participation from Buddhist monks, scholars, and followers from different countries. Chief Minister Sai extended a warm welcome to international and national delegates, acknowledging their role in strengthening cultural ties. Rajnandgaon MP Santosh Pandey and Pragya Giri Trust Committee President Vinod Khandekar also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the global significance of Chhattisgarh’s Buddhist sites.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Pragya Giri Trust Committee Secretary Shailendra Dongre, Treasurer Suresh Kumar Sahare, and a large number of Buddhist devotees and scholars.
