CG: HC grants relief to Pvt Schools from board exam

BILASPUR,CG,INDIA: The High Court of Chhattisgarh has issued a significant ruling regarding board examinations for class 5th and 8th students. In response to petitions filed by the Private School Management Association and the Parents’ Union, the court has provided temporary relief to private schools, exempting them from conducting state-mandated centralized examinations for the current academic session. However, students of government schools will still be required to appear for these exams.

The hearing took place in the single bench of Justice B.D. Guru, where the court ruled in favour of private schools, stating that they would not be required to conduct the exams under the state government’s guidelines.

The decision comes as a relief to private school administrations, which had raised concerns over the feasibility and necessity of a uniform examination structure.

While the order applies only for the current session, it has set a precedent that may influence future policies regarding board examinations in private schools.

In recent years, the Chhattisgarh government had introduced centralized board examinations for students of classes 5 and 8 in both government and private schools. The move was aimed at maintaining uniform educational standards across institutions. However, private school managements and parents’ associations challenged this decision, arguing that it imposed unnecessary pressure on students and interfered with the autonomy of private institutions.
