CG: Bird flu in Korea district, ban on poultry products

BAIKUNTHPUR,CG,INDIA: The administration has taken strict measures following the confirmation of bird flu at the Government Poultry Husbandry Center in Baikunthpur, Korea district. To control the spread of infection, a large number of chickens, eggs, and other birds are being destroyed, and the sale of poultry products has been temporarily banned.

Following the confirmation of the infection, an emergency meeting was convened late at night chaired by district Collector Chandan Tripathi. Immediate steps were decided upon, including forming a special team that was sent to the poultry center. The team, under the supervision of veterinarians, began the process of culling infected poultry.

Several workers, equipped with protective gear, have been engaged in the destruction process. As per reports, 19,095 eggs, 9,998 chicks, 2,487 adult chickens, and 2,448 quails present at the center will be completely destroyed.

Considering the increasing risk of infection, the Collector has ordered an immediate ban on the sale of chicken and eggs within a one-kilometer radius of Baikunthpur city. Citizens have been advised not to purchase poultry products and to take necessary precautions for their health.

To further assess the situation, the administration has deployed teams across the district to inspect poultry farms and markets, ensuring that the infection does not spread. A joint team of health department officials and veterinarians is closely monitoring the situation.

The district administration has urged residents to remain cautious, avoid spreading rumors, and report any sightings of dead birds to local authorities or veterinarians. Maintaining hygiene and vigilance is crucial in preventing the further spread of bird flu.
