RAIPUR, Chhattisgarh: Government of Chhattisgarh on Sunday said that the notification of the National Security Act (NSA) has been issued from time to time. It has been done after the establishment of the state of Chhattisgarh. The notification has been issued based on the reports that certain elements are active or are likely to be active which can threaten the communal harmony. They may commit any act prejudicial to the maintenance of public order or the security of the state, an official communication said. It states that under Section 03 of the NSA, for the detention of such persons, preventive action can be taken by the State Government. Based on the provisions, the Government of Chhattisgarh, through the Gazette (Extraordinary), can issue such notification to the District Magistrates within the local limits of their jurisdiction. It clarifies that the imposition shall not exceed 03 months on the first occasion. The order can be modified from time to time at any time. The present Chhattisgarh Gazette (Extraordinary) notification was published on January 03, 2023. It is the fourth time the notification has been issued after Congress came to power.
