Chhattisgarh nursing staff to hold two hours protest

RAIPUR: Nursing Officers Association, Chhattisgarh seeking four-point demand will commence two-hour strike from 9.00 am to 11.00 am from February 1, across the state by disrupting the normal working of hospitals. It will conclude on February 4. Association state president Dr Reena Rajput and secretary Neelima Sharma in a joint statement said that four-point demand of grade-pay, nursing and dress allowance, change of name of the post as Nursing Officers and increase in number of staff nurses, a representation was handed over to the state government. In 2018, raising the demands, all the nursing staff for 18 days had organised a strike. They said for two days the staff were also kept in jail. State government had constituted a committee to consider the demands. Within three months the panel handed over the report with recommendations. Till date it has not been implemented. The association on a regular basis handed over a memorandum to implement the recommendations but no progress has been made, they said. Even the Covid-19 allowance during the Covid-19 pandemic where nursing staff worked without leave have been denied, they added. Association said that prior to the protest, the nursing staff of all the medical colleges had worked by tying black-strip till Tuesday. As the demands have not been resolved by the state government, from February 1 to February 4, during duty hours, two hours of protest will be organised from 9.00 am to 11.00 am.
