CG NEWS: Will make Chhattisgarh a leader in energy matters: Dayanand

Raipur: Newly appointed Chairman of Chhattisgarh Power Companies P. Dayanand on Friday said that the priority will be to make Chhattisgarh a leader at the national level in the matter of power development.

He was holding review meeting after taking charge. At present, along with being Secretary to the Chief Minister, he is also holding the responsibility of Secretary of Energy, Mineral Resources, Public Relations, Aviation Department and Commerce and Industry Department.

He took sought detailed information about the status of electricity production, transmission and distribution in the state. He directed to prepare a detailed action plan keeping in view the future needs of electricity in the state. He asked to prepare proposals related to electricity generation from solar energy and water.

He also took separate meetings with senior officials of the generation, transmission and distribution companies of the power company at Seva Bhawan, the headquarters of Chhattisgarh State Power Company which lasted for three hours. Special Secretary of Energy Department, Sunil Kumar Jain was also present.

Managing Director of Distribution and Transmission Company, Manoj Khare said 24 hours uninterrupted electricity supply is being provided to 62 lakh consumers in the state. The maximum demand in the state has reached 6,157 MW, the supply of which was completed without any disruption. The financial condition of the distribution company is better than before.

Managing Director of Generation Company, SK Katiyar stated that the total capacity of Generation Company in the state is 2978.7 MW.

The Chairman also sought information about new recruitments and vacant posts in the power company. He said that there is a need to work by making a better action plan in the field of electricity.
