Raipur: Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan on Friday said that all ways should be considered to increase the collection on “Armed Forces Flag” Day so that more schemes can be started for the welfare of ex-servicemen and women.

He was addressing the 15th meeting of the State Management Committee of Sainik Welfare Board Chhattisgarh held on Friday at Raj Bhavan.

Welfare schemes run by the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund for ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents were discussed and important decisions were taken in the interests of ex-servicemen.

He expressed hope that the decisions taken in the meeting would benefit the ex-servicemen, their widows and their families. The Governor said that it is everyone's responsibility and duty to provide welfare to the brave sons who spent their lives in the service of Mother India.

The prescribed age limit of orphan children was increased and the amount of financial grant given to the children studying in Sainik School was increased to Rs 30,000 per year. Also, 'Putri Vivah Sagun' was planned, due to which the beneficiaries will now get Rs 55,001 instead of 51,000.
