CG NEWS: Mahasamund’s 8.66 lakh voters to vote today

MAHASAMUND,CG: The 8,66,837 voter of Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh will cast their vote on April 26, the second phase of Lok Sabha polls at 1,080 polling stations.

On Thursday, Collector and District Election Officer Prabhat Malik, said all preparations for Lok Sabha elections 2024 have been completed in the district. Voting will be held in 1,080 polling stations of the district on April 26. The polling material distribution to the polling parties was held at the Agricultural Produce Market Pitiyajhar complex. The polling parties were sent to their respective polling centres with tight security.

Collector Prabhat Malik and District Panchayat CEO S. Alok sent off the polling parties of polling stations of assembly constituencies 39-Saraipali, 40-Basna, 41-Khallari and 42-Mahasamund.

They met the polling parties and polling personnel of Divyang Dal, Sangwari Dal and Yuva Dal and congratulated them for successfully discharging their responsibilities. Also asked to ensure their participation in successfully concluding the great festival of democracy.

16 stalls each have been set up in all the assemblies.

The polling personnel appreciated the arrangements made by the district administration. Polling personnel said that in view of the heat, adequate arrangements for shade have been made, along with adequate arrangements for drinking water, coolers and toilets. He said that there was no difficulty of any kind in receiving and dispatching the material.

GPS has been installed in all the vehicles so that the location of the vehicles transporting polling parties can be traced.

Webcasting in 540 polling centres

In the four assembly constituencies of Mahasamund district in Chhattisgarh, Mahasamund-42, Khallari-41, Basna-40 and Saraipali-39, live webcasting at 540 polling centres  will be done for Lok Sabha elections 2024.

For effective monitoring of webcasting, continuous monitoring will be done from the control room in the Collectorate meeting hall.

Nodal Officer Pankaj Mishra said, there are 3 employees each, micro observers, a total of 40 technical and IT employees present for it.

The IT Department had installed cameras in booths where there is networking arrangement. Monitoring arrangements are being made at these booths at three levels. The Assistant Returning Officer of the Assembly Constituency, District Election Officer and the State Election Commission in Raipur are watching the voting process live at these booths. Assistant Nodal Officer Ambilkar said that arrangements have been made for continuous monitoring of various polling stations in the four assembly constituencies through cameras.
