JASHPUR,CG: An assistant engineer of the electricity department died in a road accident while a junior engineer and a contractor traveling in the car suffered serious injuries on Friday at Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh.

Both the injured have been admitted to the hospital.

The police said that a massive collision between two cars had occurred in the Kansabel police station area of Jashpur district. The collision was such that both the vehicles were badly damaged.

The police said the team of the Electricity Distribution Department was going to Gram Panchayat Bagiya for the work of repairing the electricity system. Assistant Engineer Manhar of Electricity Department Kansabel, Junior Engineer Kamil Toppo and contractor Ramesh Gupta were traveling in the car.

Before the car could reach Bagiya village, there was a massive collision with a speeding car coming from the opposite direction towards Belaghat.

Assistant engineer Manhar died on the spot, while junior engineer Kamil Toppo and contractor Ramesh Gupta, suffered serious injuries.

The official sources said that the deceased Manhar had been promoted from Junior Engineer of Hassaud Distribution Centre of Sakti Division only two months ago and posted as Assistant Engineer Kansabel. Police have registered a crime on the accident and started investigating the cause of the incident.
