CG NEWS: Vigilance system in Registration, Stamp Department of Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: The Government of Chhattisgarh had implemented a vigilance system in the Registration and Stamp Department.

The department is the third major revenue generating department of the state. To increase the revenue contribution of the department and prevent any possible revenue tax evasion, a vigilance cell has been set up in the Office of the Inspector General of Registration and Stamps on the instructions of Finance Minister O P Choudhary.

The Vigilance Cell will continuously investigate the market value and stamp duty determined in cases of acquisition, amalgamation and ownership transfer of industrial units, factories under the state of Chhattisgarh. The vigilance cell will also review the registries worth more than Rs 5 crore in the sub-registrar office. The Vigilance Cell will be able to get help from other departments to perform its tasks and will also be able to visit the spot and conduct site inspection.

A special data analysis team will be established under the Vigilance Cell to provide inputs to the Vigilance Cell through data analysis using state-of-the-art technology. The team will analyze the data obtained from the registration documents and provide information about possible tax evasion cases to the Vigilance Cell. Changes in the tax system from time to time in other states and other taxation departments of the country will also be studied and adjusted by the Vigilance Cell. Establishment of Vigilance Cell will effectively prevent tax evasion and increase the revenue of the state.
