Ensure smooth conduct of counting: CEO

RAIPUR,CG: Chief Electoral Officer Chhattisgarh Reena Babasaheb Kangale on Friday asked the Raipur District officials to ensure smooth conduct of counting.

As part of assessment of arrangements for the counting of votes on June 4, CEO is conducting review of the preparation across the state. She was on visit to the counting centre at the Government Engineering College, Sejbahar.

She inspected the counting rooms being prepared for counting of votes. She gave suggestion to improve various arrangements at the counting venue for uninterrupted and well-organized vote counting.

Raipur Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh, SSP Santosh Singh and other officials accompanied her.

She took stock of arrangements for assembly wise counting rooms in the district, meeting arrangements of candidates and their counting agents, entry passes, monitoring through CCTV cameras, videography on the day of counting, security arrangements, barricading, counting of postal ballots and VVPAT slips.

She asked the officials that mobile phones, iPads, laptops, smart watches, cameras and other electronic devices will be banned in the counting hall. Except media representatives can take mobile phones to the media centre.

She asked officials to display drawing-design of the counting venue and counting rooms in the counting venue for the convenience of the election agents so that the agents can easily reach their designated counting room.

Kangale called for better arrangements of tables for counting at the counting sites in the district.

She had discussion with the representatives of political parties present outside the strong room and took feedback regarding the security and monitoring arrangements of the strong room and the arrangements at the counting venue.
