On Cyclone Remal, DIG of The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Mohsen Shahidi has said that the current information from the IMD is that the severe cyclonic storm has now transformed into a cyclonic storm. Talking to media he said, the wind speed which was earlier about 110 to 120 kilometres per hour during landfall, now has come down to 60 to 70 kilometres per hour. Mr Shahidi said, that is a big relief and it is expected that by evening today, this will further change into a deep depression. He said, one person has died in Kolkata due to wall collapse. The NDRF DIG said, restoration work is in progress and 14 teams of NDRF are deployed in major affected areas in West Bengal and six SDRF teams are also deployed to assist. He said, apart from the 14 teams in West Bengal, one team of NDRF stationed in Tripura as a precautionary measure.
