CG NEWS: Out of 516 school buses, 86 buses had defects: RTO

RAIPUR,CG: Chhattisgarh’s Raipur Senior Regional Transport Officer Ashish Dewangan on Friday said 516 buses concerning schools and colleges underwent inspection in which defects were found in 86 buses.

The concerned institution managers were instructed to immediately remove the shortcomings.

The classes will start in schools soon in the coming days. Children will start traveling to schools through buses. In such a situation, the fitness of the school buses should be maintained so that accidents can be prevented. Under it the buses are undergoing physical inspection.

Dewangan said that in these school buses, all the vehicles' documents, guidelines given by the High Court for school buses were followed and mechanical inspection was done. Besides, free eye and health check-up of drivers and conductors was conducted in the vehicle check-up camp by the experienced doctors of District Hospital Raipur. The blood pressure, diabetes, vision ability, cataract were also examined. Drivers suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes were advised to use the medicine continuously.

The officials said that at the camp it was checked whether the hand brake, the clutch or accelerator was working properly or not. Brake light, head light, parking light were also checked. The steering, horn, seat, reflectors were also checked. Also, documents like vehicle's RC book, motor vehicle tax, vehicle permit, fitness certificate, vehicle’s insurance certificate, vehicle’s pollution certificate, driver’s license, were checked and the speed governor was tested. 

Instructions were given to absent buses to be present on June 15-

Dewangan said that a checking camp has been organized on Saturday, June 15 for the vehicles that were not present in the checking camp. He said that the buses not present on the day will be checked on the road. If any defect is found in the vehicles, action will be taken against the driver and owner of the school-college bus and the school-college manager. Keeping in mind that students may face inconvenience due to road checking, school-college managers should necessarily attend the vehicle checking camp on June 15.
