CG NEWS: After Patwaris’, now Tehsildars on mass leave

RAIPUR,CG: All the Tehsildars/Naib Tehsildars of Chhattisgarh have gone on a three-day collective leave under the banner of Chhattisgarh Junior Administrative Services Association after the incident of assault on Naib Tehsildar Yuvraj Sahu in Jhalap Tehsil of Mahasamund district.

The officers had agitated on security and other issues earlier also, but due to no initiative being taken, the officers were quite angry.

A case of assault has come to light in the Revenue Court of the Naib Tehsildar of Sub Tehsil Office located in Jhalap of Mahasamund district. There was an altercation over some issue between Naib Tehsildar Yuvraj Sahu and a person named Kulpreet Singh. During the conversation, Kulpreet Singh resorted to assault. Angered by the incident, the revenue officer and employees have filed a report.

After this incident, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars from across the state mobilized and went on a collective leave of 3 days, expressing their displeasure over the incident.

The Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars had protested and demanded security and other facilities from the government in their court. After which, letters for security in the court were issued by the previous government to all the collectors but till date security has not been provided to the officers.

There are continuous reports of fighting, and abuse. In such a situation, it has become difficult for these officers to work while sitting in the court.

After going on mass leave, the officers submitted a memorandum to Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma and Revenue Secretary Avinash Champawat under the banner of Chhattisgarh Junior Administrative Services Association. They were given information regarding the incident and a demand for security.

The association had also raised the demand that the salary discrepancy of Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars should be removed. Vehicle arrangements or vehicle allowance should be provided for protocol, law and order and field work. For the efficient functioning of the Revenue Court, one reader, one computer operator, one clerk should be provided for each presiding judge and arrangements for laptop/computer, scanner, printer and stationery fund, furniture should be made. They should not be attached and the order regarding not giving the charge of Tehsildar/Naib Tehsildar to Superintendents/Assistant Superintendents should be implemented compulsorily at the district level.

They will be on leave till July 12. The association said in case if the demands are not met, it will proceed for indefinite strike.

Already in Chhattisgarh the Patwaris are also on strike.
