CG NEWS: Police personnel set an example of humanity

RAIGARH,CG: Even though one can see the tough image of the police around us, they also have humanity, their hearts also ache. A policeman carried a woman from a remote area across a mountain drain for about 3 kilometres in ‘Kanwar’ so that she could have a safe delivery. But due to increased pain in the middle, the delivery had to be done with the help of Mitanin. Later, the woman was admitted to the hospital. The example of humanitarian aid set by the police jawan by providing immediate help to a woman suffering from labour pain is inspiring.

The incident occurred in Paremer Ghutrupara is a small village situated amidst the mountains in Raigarh district. It becomes difficult to reach here during rainy season due to water-filled streams. A woman suffered labour pain in the village. The family members called dial 112 for help to take the pregnant woman Sushmita to the hospital. Police station Kapu received the medical emergency call. The caller informed the condition of the woman. Constable Vipin Kishore Khalkho, posted on Dial 112 duty, and ERV vehicle driver Chhotu Das reached the village.

Despite the pregnant woman’s house being located on the other side of a drain and a hill, there being no road for vehicles, the constable and the driver reached the woman’s house on foot. Seeing the condition of the pregnant woman, showing sensitivity without any delay and the constable persuaded the family members to take the woman suffering from labour from ‘Kanwar’ to the vehicle and he himself along with a young man picked up the woman in Kanwar and took her to the dial 112 vehicle.

Taking the pregnant woman in Kanwar, the soldier crossed the mountain drain for about 3 kilometres and reached the vehicle of Dial 112 and was taking her to the hospital.

On the way, due to severe labour pain, the soldier showed wisdom and stopped the vehicle near a tree. With the help of Mitanin and the woman’s family members a cover was made and the woman safely delivered.

She was then admitted to the nearest government hospital Jamarga, both mother and child are healthy.
