RAIPUR,CG: Constable Vipin Kishore Khalkho and driver Chhotu Das of district Raigarh, the employees of Dial 112 were felicitated by Director General of Police Ashok Juneja (I.P.S.) at the Police Headquarters on Monday.

The Dial 112 had reached the spot on the information that a woman was suffering from labour pain in village Paremer Ghutrupara under Kapu police station area of District Raigarh. Taking immediate action, the ERV team reached the spot and the caller told on telephone that the village of the victim woman, Lailunga Ghutrupara, is about 3 km up the hill. The access road to the victim's house was of fields, drains and footpaths, on which it was not possible for 112 vehicles to reach.

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the team of Dial 112 reached the victim’s house on foot. The team, showing prudence, made the victim sit in a ‘Kanwar’ and brought her along with Mitanin and her family on foot through fields, drains and footpaths. But on the way, due to severe pain during delivery, Mitanin, with the help of women members, got the baby delivered safely under a tree on the bank of the drain. After delivery, the mother was carried in a ‘kanwar’ and the newborn baby was crossed across the drain and reached the Dial 112 vehicle. The team took immediate action by placing the newborn baby and the mother safely in the ERV vehicle and took them to the primary health centre Jamarga.
