Chhattisgarh’s daughters brought honour to state: Minister

RAIPUR,CG: Fencing player Rupali Sahu paid a courtesy visit to the residence office of Sports Minister Tank Ram Verma on Tuesday.

Rupali Sahu and Reeba Benny won the Indian team a silver medal in the Junior Commonwealth Fencing Competition held in Christchurch, New Zealand from July 12 to 19, 2024. Praising their brilliant performance, the Sports Minister said that the daughters of Chhattisgarh have brought glory not only to the state but also to the country. He said that a positive environment is being created for all sports disciplines in the state. All necessary facilities are being provided by upgrading the sports grounds.

Rupali Sahu and Reeba Benny had applied for financial help from the Sports and Youth Welfare Department to go to New Zealand. Sports Director Tanuja Salam had sent the matter to the state government with the recommendation of providing financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to these players Reeba and Rs 3.5 lakh to Rupali Sahu.

Sports Secretary Himshikhar Gupta and Sports Minister Tankram Verma approved the proposal of the Sports Director.
