RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh State Assembly during Monsoon session on Friday unanimously passed the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax Amendment Bill 2024.
Finance and Commercial Tax Minister OP Chaudhary presented the bill, which was then discussed.
The Finance Minister said that after the implementation of GST, the number of registered businessmen has increased by more than 50 lakh. Various taxes are included in GST.
Necessary amendments have been made by the Central Government on the basis of the recommendations of the GST Council. Pursuant to which, amendments have also been made by the state government, under which the head office will distribute the input tax credit to its branch offices through the input service distributor and a fine of Rs 1 lakh will be imposed on the tobacco manufacturing manufacturers for not registering their machines. Provision has been made.
Chaudhary said that from time to time, as per requirement, the GST Council decides to amend the GST Act. So that business becomes easier and an increase in tax revenue can be ensured.
The definition clause is being amended with the purpose of bringing uniformity in the process followed for distribution of input tax credit by input service distributors across the country. Besides, reverse charge levy is also being included under this. Necessary amendments have been made in the relevant section to prescribe the method of input tax distribution in the above mentioned cases, he said.
These taxes include 17 types of taxes like Central Excise Tax, Service Tax, Central Surcharge and Cess, VAT, Entry Tax, Central Sales Tax, Luxury Tax, Entertainment Tax, he said.
