RAIPUR,CG: Directorate of AYUSH, Government of Chhattisgarh based on directives of the Supreme Court had taken initiatives to curb misleading advertisements by the medicine manufacturers, advertisers and advertising agencies to protect consumer interests.
Directorate of AYUSH Chhattisgarh, in an order states that the Supreme Court on May 07, 2024 with the aim of curbing misleading advertisements and protecting consumer interests in Indian Medical Association IMA and others vs Union of India and others, under which advertisers and advertising agencies will have to submit a self-declaration before the broadcast publication of their advertisement certifying that their advertisement does not violate the advertising code prescribed under the Cable Television Networks Rules 1994.
The Supreme Court has issued directions that before any advertisement is printed, broadcast, displayed, a self-declaration shall be submitted by the advertiser, advertising agency on the specified portal, certifying that his advertisement is within the meaning of the Cable Television Network Rules 1994, does not violate the prescribed advertising code. Proof of uploading on the concerned broadcaster, printer, publisher, TV channel, electronic media, as the case may be, will be kept for record.
In compliance with the direction of the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched the Broadcast Services Portal https://new.broadcastseva.gov.in/digigov-portal-web-app/ for TV and Radio and Press for Print, Digital, Internet Media. A new facility has been launched on the Press Council of India portal https://www.presscouncil.nic.in/ under which advertisers and advertising agencies will have the facility to upload and generate self-certificates before the broadcast publication of their advertisements. This portal is now operational.
