Transgender showcases talent in ‘Saanjh-6’

RAIPUR,CG: As part of promoting the cultural activities among the transgender community in Chhattisgarh, ‘State Level Transgender Cultural Evening’-Saanjh-6 was organized at the Muktakashi stage of Mahant Ghasidas Museum in the capital Raipur.

The Culture and Archaeology Department and Chhattisgarh Mitwa Sankalp Samiti organised the event jointly.

MLA Purandar Mishra was the chief guest. Director Archaeology and Culture Department Vivek Acharya was a special guest.

Artists from the third gender community gave colourful presentations in the program Saanjh-6. The first solo presentation was by Meera Yadav, Rajasthani dance by Pratima Group and Swaragini Group including Chhattisgarhi Sua Geet, Karma Geet, Dadriya and Holi songs.

Shiv Vandana through Kathak was presented by Yuvraj Badh and his friends from Raipur. He also presented Kathak Tihai, Paran and Thumri. Yuvraj Badh has received Gurratna Award, Madhupuram Award, Madhupuram Samman, Guru Brahma Award and Nritya Maya Award in the field of Kathak dance.

Pratima Dance Group presented a musical dance drama related to the evils of dowry prevalent in the society. The artists of Churki Murki dance group of Pithora Mahasamund won hearts with their styles.  In the second phase of the program, transgender youth did a fashion show on the ramp.

All the artists were felicitated. Chhattisgarh Mitwa Sankalp Samiti President Vidya Rajput thanked the artists, audience and Culture and Archaeology Department, Queergarh LGBTQ Group, Walk in Talk Food Corner, Anant Pravah Kathak Centre.
