Chhattisgarh to have 146 Ayush villages

RAIPUR,CG: Director of AYUSH Department, Iffat Ara on Tuesday said to adopt the principles and practices of AYUSH lifestyle and realize village based on health facilities, health care and treatments, AYUSH villages have been identified in 146 development blocks of Chhattisgarh, which will be developed.

She addressed a one-day workshop-cum-training organized at Naveen Vishram Bhawan, Civil Lines Raipur by the AYUSH Directorate of the State Government under the National AYUSH Mission to develop AYUSH villages in the state.

District Ayurveda Officers and Ayush Gram doctors of all the development blocks were present.

She said through Ayush Gram, the villagers will be educated according to Ayurveda, Yoga and AYUSH methods to protect their health and keep them healthy throughout their life. Various activities will be conducted in Ayush villages through public participation.

Chief Executive Officer of Chhattisgarh Tribal, Local Health Traditions and Medicinal Plants Board, J.A.C.S. Rao told the AYUSH officers and doctors about the plantation of available medicinal plants and the available market. He displayed 20 plants rich in medicinal properties like Stevia, Shatavari, Kalmegh, Lemon-grass, Keukand, Ashwagandha, Sarpagandha and explained in detail about the suitable season and cultivation for their planting.  

Dr. Gajendra Baghel, Assistant Director-cum-State Program Manager of AYUSH Department, spoke in detail about the concept of AYUSH Gram and the activities to be conducted. He said the aim is to make people aware about the medicinal properties of trees and plants and promote their plantation and conservation.

Dr. Vidyabhushan Pandey, associate professor of Government Ayurveda College, Bilaspur, said teachers and students in schools have to be made aware about Ayurveda. Health check-ups of children have to be done in schools.
