RAIPUR,CG: Commonwealth Games silver medallist Reeba Benni’s parents as a gesture of gratitude, on Thursday visited the Chief Minister’s residence during the weekly “Jandarshan” and felicitated him with a shawl and shreefal as a token of their appreciation and respect.
Fencing player Reeba Benni had won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games held in New Zealand. She was facing financial crises to participate in the event due to huge cost. The parents had pointed out before the Chief Minister that Reeba was selected to compete in New Zealand but lacked the funds necessary for her trip. Taking swift action, the Chief Minister approved an amount of Rs 4 lakhs to cover her expenses.
The timely support, Reeba was able to participate in the competition and secure a silver medal.
