Regional institute of LNIPE in Chhattisgarh: Verma

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh will have a regional institute on the lines of Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), Gwalior. For this, in-principle consent has been given by the state government, said Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Tank Ram Verma on Thursday.

120 acres of land has been identified in Tendua of Nava Raipur for the LNIPE Centre, which has been decided by the Revenue Department to allot it to the Sports and Youth Welfare Department. The Government of India will provide financial assistance to the LNIPE centre to be started in state.

During the meeting Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Tank Ram Verma and Vice Chancellor of National Institute of Gwalior, Professor Indu Bora, had a detailed discussion on setting up LNIPE Centre at Tendua in Nava Raipur. 1000 students per academic session will be able to study physical education courses in the regional institute which will be residential.

Professor Indu Bora said that the proposal will be sent to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India next week.

Sports Minister Tankram Verma will soon meet Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on the subject and urge him to approve the proposal.
