RAIPUR,CG: In response to recent heavy rainfall, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has taken decisive action to prevent flooding in Raigarh district, located in the Hirakud Dam’s submergence area. Chief Minister Sai engaged in urgent discussions late last night with Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, requesting the controlled release of water from the dam to mitigate flood risks.
Odisha’s Chief Minister Majhi responded promptly, ordering the release of a managed amount of water from the Hirakud Dam. The collaborative effort aims to protect over two dozen villages in Chhattisgarh from potential flooding, safeguarding both life and property. Chief Minister Sai expressed his sincere appreciation to Majhi for his timely and considerate intervention. Historically, heavy rains have caused severe flooding in these villages. However, this year marks a significant milestone in inter-state cooperation. The swift and coordinated action between the Chhattisgarh and Odisha governments has effectively averted a potential disaster, demonstrating a new level of coordination and mutual support between the states.
