DHAMTARI,CG,BHARAT: Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh emphasized the importance of conserving every drop of water, stating that the festival's success was evident from the significant public participation in its activities.
He was addressing the closing program of the two-day Jal Jagar Maha Utsav and International Water Conference held on the banks of Gangrel Dam in Dhamtari. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao was also present.
The event aimed to raise awareness about water conservation and featured various programs that engaged participants from Dhamtari district and beyond.
Dr Singh warned that without immediate action, groundwater pollution could become a serious issue. He commended the district administration for organizing the event and inviting environmental experts and activists dedicated to water conservation.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao highlighted that water harvesting and conservation are essential to address the looming global water crisis. He urged society and individuals to take initiative in preserving water resources. He expressed pride in his role overseeing the Public Health Engineering and Urban Administration departments, which are responsible for providing clean drinking water across the state. Sao mentioned several government initiatives dedicated to water conservation, including the Jal Jeevan Mission and Amrit Sarovar, and praised the district administration for successfully hosting the Jal Jagar Maha Utsav.
The concluding program also featured remarks from local MPs and students who shared their experiences from a water assembly held during the festival. The International Water Conference concluded with a report from Divisional Forest Officer Krishna Jadhav, noting the participation of over 150 representatives, including water experts and environmentalists from countries such as Denmark, Japan, and Sri Lanka. He stated that the conference offered new perspectives on water management and harvesting, paving the way for innovative campaigns like Jal Jagar.
