Notification for polls on October 18: CEO

RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Announcing the Raipur South Assembly by-election, Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh Reena Baba Saheb Kangale said that the model code of conduct has become effective in the assembly constituency. Notification for the elections will be issued on October 18.

Addressing the media, she said there will be 10 Sangwari polling stations in Raipur South Assembly constituency, which will be operated by the women polling team. Not only this, five model polling stations, one handicapped operated polling station and five youth operated polling stations will be built. The number of women voters in the seat is more than that of men.

Kangale said the nominations will be filed till October 25. Voting will take place on November 13 and counting of votes will take place on November 23. There are 2,70,936 voters in Raipur South. Of these, 1,33,713 male voters and 1,37,171 female voters are registered. The number of service voters is 59. 52 voters of third gender are registered.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that the number of disabled voters is 1,188, and the total number of voters is 5,014. The number of voters above 85 years of age is 1,711. The number of voters who have completed 100 years is 56. There are a total of 253 polling stations in Raipur South, which are in the entire urban area. Senior citizens of 85 years of age or above and persons with disability having more than 40 percent disability will be able to vote at home through postal letters. A special polling team will be formed for such voters.

One Returning Officer and 2 Assistant Returning Officers are notified for the elections. The last date for filing nominations will be  October 25th, scrutiny of nomination papers will be 28th, date of withdrawal of nominations will be October 30th, voting will be November 13th and the date of counting will be November 23rd. Election process will be completed before November 25th.

The CEO said that 5 companies of security personnel have been deployed for law and order, and they will be deployed in the strong room and counting centre along with the Sector Magistrate as per requirement.
