RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: The 83rd annual convention of the Indian Road Congress (IRC) will be held in Raipur from November 7 to 11.
In preparation for the event, Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Arun Sao, along with Departmental Secretary Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Chief Engineer KK Pipri, and officials from the National Highway Authority of India, Ministry of Road Transport, and Raipur Municipal Corporation, reviewed the arrangements. The event will take place at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium and Science College campus.
During the review meeting at Naveen Vishram Bhawan, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao emphasized the importance of showcasing Chhattisgarh’s culture and development to the national and international delegates attending the convention. He asked officials to ensure that the hospitality reflects the state’s rich traditions and to make proper arrangements for the guests' comfort.
Sao also instructed leading power and infrastructure institutions such as NMDC, NTPC, SAIL (Bhilai Steel Plant), and Chhattisgarh Power Generation to set up stalls and exhibitions highlighting the state's multi-faceted development. He urged the inclusion of displays that would introduce attendees to Chhattisgarh’s art, craft, and folk culture.
Additionally, Sao recommended organizing competitions to encourage young engineers and providing student memberships to top engineering students in the state. He urged Public Works Department engineers to engage actively in the event, utilizing the opportunity to learn about new research and technologies being adopted in other states. He also called for extensive publicity of the convention to ensure that engineers from across Chhattisgarh benefit from the lectures and insights of scientists from leading institutions.
The convention aims to foster knowledge exchange and provide training on the latest advancements in road construction and infrastructure development.
