RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka emphasized the importance of instilling a sense of service and humanity in the youth to contribute to societal betterment during the closing ceremony of the Chhattisgarh State Level Junior Red Cross Training cum Goodwill Camp, organized by the Indian Red Cross Society in Durg on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Governor Deka expressed his joy at the inaugural Junior Red Cross Meet 2024, held for the first time in Chhattisgarh. He commended the dedication and service spirit of the young volunteers, recognizing them as the future leaders responsible for upholding societal values.
“The Red Cross not only equips you with medical and emergency response skills, but it also fosters sensitivity and a deep sense of service toward humanity”, the Governor remarked. He noted that the camp goes beyond disaster management training, instilling ideals of peace, unity, and goodwill essential for overcoming global challenges.
He highlighted the broader objectives of the camp, which included promoting community development, social harmony, and moral values. He urged participants to share their learnings with family and friends to extend help during emergencies, congratulating the winners of various competitions and lauding the Indian Red Cross Society, Durg, for successfully organizing the event.
During the five-day camp, students from 33 districts participated in various competitions. Durg district secured first place for overall performance, while Balod district took second. Special honors were awarded to Neelima Mandavi of Narayanpur district and Ramesh Kumar from Korea district for their exceptional contributions as Junior Red Cross cadets.
Chhattisgarh Red Cross Society CEO, M.K. Raut highlighted the camp’s objectives, while Chairman Ashok Kumar Aggarwal presented a detailed report on the camp’s activities. The ceremony featured cultural performances, including Malkhamb demonstrations, and the Governor distributed certificates to top performers in March Past, folk singing, dancing, and other contests.
In a symbolic gesture, the children presented Governor Deka with a traditional Khumri, his portrait, and a Chirai Chugni, commemorating the event.
