Registration on NFDP mandatory for fish farmers

RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Fish farmers across India are now required to register on the National Fisheries Development Portal (NFDP) to access benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Sah Yojana, according to a directive from the Central Government. The initiative aims to formalize the fisheries sector by establishing a comprehensive work-based identification database for fish farmers, fisheries groups, and committees.

Director of Fisheries, Narayan Singh Nag, emphasized that the registration is essential for participating in future schemes related to fisheries under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Sah Yojana. Registration is available at Choice Centres, and every individual involved in fish farming, even within the same family, must register separately.

Upon successful registration and verification by the Fisheries Department, Rs 80 will be credited to the fish farmer's bank account, with an additional Rs 18 commission paid to the Common Service Centre for each entry.

Fish farmers are urged to visit a Choice Centre with their Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and Aadhaar-linked mobile number. The registration process requires an OTP sent to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Initially, a provisional certificate will be issued, followed by a permanent certificate after verification by the Fisheries Department.
