Bring light in lives of potters: CM Baghel

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday conducting purchases at Gol Bazar, Raipur for Diwali made an appeal to people of state to purchase earthen lamps.

He bought earthen lamps, pots (matki), clay idols of Ganesh, Lakshmi and Saraswati, idols of ‘Gwalin’, sweets and firecrackers at Hind Sporting Ground, Lakhe Nagar.

Making an appeal, Baghel said people of state should buy ‘Chhattisgarhi’ products prepared using local materials. It would be a great help to the local artisans, an official communication said.

He said, “People need to light up their homes and courtyards by lighting earthen lamps on the occasion of Diwali. The earthen lamps are prepared by local potters (Kumbhakar) with dedication and hard work. They hope to make an earning during the Diwali. People can bring the ray of light in their lives by purchasing their products. So that they can also celebrate the festival with greater joy”.

He said the state government is promoting traditional business, handicrafts and art. It helps to bring changes in the economic condition of their families. So, it is the responsibility of all to cooperate and promote their business by purchasing their products.
