RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh police on Thursday registered a first information report against Richa Jogi, wife of Amit Jogi, state president of Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) after her Scheduled Tribe caste certificate was cancelled.
She is daughter-in-law of first chief minister and Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) founder Ajit Jogi.
She has been booked under section 10 of the Chhattisgarh Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class (Regulation of Social Status Certification) Act, 2013, the FIR said.
The FIR was lodged following an application handed over to the police by the Mungeli Tribal Development Department for legal action against her, it was said.
The ST caste certificate of Richa Jogi was cancelled by the high level certification scrutiny committee of the tribal development department in June 2021. The department had asked the Mungeli Collector to take further action.
Reacting to the FIR, she said, “The issue related to caste certificate is pending in the high court and without any court order the FIR against me is an attempt to stop me from participating in the ‘Jogi Jan Adhikar Padyatra’ to be started from this month.”
“I will challenge the FIR against me in the court”, she added.
Reacting to her statement, senior spokesperson of the Congress party R.P. Singh said that ‘Jogeria’ has been a major disease since the inception of the state. It has caused a lot of damage to the state and the Congress. Presently Bhupesh Baghel is the biggest doctor of this disease. He has cured it up to 75 percent. The people of the state will cure the remaining 25 percent in the 2023 elections.
He said first the District Level Certificate Verification Committee Mungeli and now the State Level Certification Scrutiny Committee has found Richa Jogi's tribal certificate as invalid.
In the report of both the committees, legal action has been recommended against the criminal act committed by her. Both the committees had given ample opportunity to her to present her side but even after all her unsuccessful efforts, she could not prove herself as a real tribal.
