AMBAGARH CHOWKI: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday raised concern over the rising number of detections of diabetes among the rural masses.
Holding a review meeting with district officials, he said it is a concern that ‘Haat-bazaar clinic’ is receiving more patients with diabetes. Diabetes is more of a lifestyle disease. People in rural areas often have an active lifestyle. They are usually less likely to have it. It needs to be investigated.
He asked officials to conduct screening of sugar patients in rural areas. The treatment facilities for seasonal ailments should also be ensured.
Baghel discussed the presence of arsenic in drinking water and also called for installing an iron remover machine for treatment of the iron contaminated water.
The officers need to concentrate on behavioural change for eradication of malnutrition. Children are explained the importance of ‘Suposhan Vatika’ by developing it at anganbadis’ and provide counselling to the parents and family members. They will provide children nutritious food at home as well, he said.
The eggs should be procured from the local women groups involved in poultry. It would help to generate income for them, he added.
Baghel pulled up Manpur Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) for inspecting only two hostels for tribal school students. He was asked to increase the frequency of inspection.
Divisional Forest Officer was asked to clarify on complaints regarding payments to tendu leaves collectors. He said that in two cases full payment has been done and investigation is in progress for two cases. The fault was of ‘Fadmunshi’ (supervisor). Baghel asked to develop a fool proof system of feedback from beneficiaries to rectify technical errors.
The Chief Minister asked to monitor the movement of the herd of elephants arriving from Maharashtra. Safety of villagers will be ensured.
