CG News: Brahmanand Netam to win polls from jail: BJP

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday alleged that the imminent arrest of its candidate Brahmanand Netam for Bhanupratappur by-election is a conspiracy. They said Netam will win the bye-election from jail.

After Netam’s candidate was announced and nomination filed, all of a sudden, the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president Mohan Markam levels the allegations, said Bhanupratappur election in-charge Brijmohan Agrawal

The Congress had an apprehension of defeat which was troubling them. Due to which they have indulged in this act in collaboration with neighboring state (Jharkhand), he said.

Neither any summons nor any order has been issued against the raised allegations. As per the Act, once the offence is reported, the accused has to be produced before the court within 24 hours. But in this case no action has been taken for the last three years. It points towards the conspiracy angle, Agrawal said.

He added that PCC president Mohan Markam and other Congress leaders should also be booked under the relevant sections of the Act, for disclosing the name of the victim.

Agrawal said the tribal community is hurt over the developments of raising false allegations and conspiracy to arrest their leader. The tribal community and BJP will continue the fight and give a befitting reply. Even if the candidate is sent to jail, the people and workers here together will ensure that Brahmanand Netam win the election.

As per reports, Jharkhand police team has arrived to arrest Netam. The polling is scheduled on December 5 at Bhanupratappur.
