RAIPUR: For non-fulfilment of the promises made even after six months after the call of strike in Chhattisgarh, the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) Scheme workers will organise a protest rally (Nyay Yatra) on December 24 at five divisions of state.
State President of Chhattisgarh MGNREGA Employees Federation Ashok Kurre said that even after six months of adjournment of the strike, not a single demand has been fulfilled.
As per the agreement reached to withdraw the strike, he said salary for the strike period, fixation of pay scale of employment assistants and until regularization is done, agreed to give the status of panchayat workers to all MGNREGA employees.
He said State Industries Minister Kawasi Lakhma had promised to implement the demands within five months. The time limit has crossed.
To alert the state government on the pending demands, on December 24, a rally will be taken out in Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Bastar and Surguja divisions. A memorandum will be handed over to the Divisional Commissioner addressed to the Chief Minister, he said.
MGNREGA employees had held a 66 days long strike in the month of April-May seeking hike in wages, regularisation and other issues. Even the Panchayat and Rural Development Minister T. S. Singh Deo had handed over the portfolio to another minister.
